Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois has predicted the team to win this season’s Champions League final to be played between Inter Milan and Manchester City.
The Belgium international is rooting for the Italian side to beat the English champions to the Champions League trophy because he wants his compatriot Romelu Lukaku to lift the trophy.
Inter will go into the Champions League final with Manchester City in Istanbul on 10th June, as firm underdogs with the Citizens looking unstoppable and on course for the treble.
Pep Guardiola’s men have already won the Premier League, their fifth title in six seasons, and are favoured to defeat arch-rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on 3rd June.
Courtois’ Real Madrid were knocked out of this year’s contest in the semi-finals in style by Manchester City but he is rooting for the Italians because of his friend Lukaku who has spent the season on loan at the San Siro from Chelsea.
The fact that another Belgian will also be featuring in the final, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, did not change Courtois’ allegiance.
The 31-year-old told Prime Video: “I hope Romelu can win it. Obviously it’s him against Kevin, but I’ve known Romelu for a bit longer.”
