Liverpool cult hero Danny Murphy has rubbished reports that Sadio Mane could be on his way back to the club.
Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich last summer, but has already been linked with a move away from Bavaria after an underwhelming season.
Reports in England suggest that the Senegalese could be returning to join Manchester United or Newcastle.
But Murphy told talkSPORT that Mane does not think he would return to the Reds.
Speaking on White and Jordan about a possible Mane reunion at Anfield, Murphy said: “I think the fans would [like to see it].
“I think they’d have to get rid of someone, they’ve got five forwards, maybe even six.
“That’s a huge chunk of their budget on a player in a position they don’t need, when they need midfielders, so I can’t see it.”
