EPL: Snub them – Malouda begs Chelsea midfielder not to join Premier League rivals

Former Chelsea winger, Florent Malouda, has urged attacking midfielder Mason Mount to snub Premier League rivals Liverpool and sign a new contract and stay at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool are said to be interested in signing Mount this summer transfer window as they seek to rejuvenate their ageing midfield.

Mount is likely to leave Chelsea at the end of the current season after talks between his representatives and the west London club hit a wall over a contract extension.

The England World Cup star has less than 18 months left on his current contract with Chelsea, and he has made it clear that his preference is to remain at Stamford Bridge.

But Malouda reckons Mount should snub the Reds and fight for his spot at Chelsea.

“Mason Mount should snub Liverpool and stay at Chelsea,” Malouda told DAZN Bet.

“I don’t think Mason Mount should leave Chelsea. It should be part of your mentality and spirit that when you are at a club like Chelsea, there’s strong competition.

“Mount is like the DNA for Chelsea, he loves the club. When you look at his performances since he got into the first team, playing lots of games for club and country, it is normal that physically, you need to recover and regenerate.

“But it should not be his mentality that just because you are not in the starting XI, you’ve to leave. It could be the same at Liverpool or any top club.”
