The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, Rev. James Kantoma who was kidnapped by gunmen has regained his freedom.
Kantoma, who doubles as the Catholic priest in charge of St Anthony’s Parish in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State, was abducted in his house in the community by the gunmen on Sunday night.
A resident of Angware community who confirmed the cleric’s abduction on Monday had said that when the gunmen arrived in the community at night, they moved straight to the house of the Reverend Father.
The abductors had demanded N50million as a ransom.
However, the CAN Chairman of Plateau North, Rev. Nenman Gowan, on Thursday confirmed the release of Kantoma in Jos.
He affirmed that the priest was in stable condition but undergoing treatment and rehabilitation after suffering varying degrees of traumatic experience.
He did not mention if any ransom was paid before the release of the Catholic Priest.
