Former Inter goalkeeper, Gianluca Pagliuca has said AC Milan’s Mike Maignan is currently ahead of Andre Onana in Serie A.
Since leaving Ajax for Inter Milan last summer the Cameroonian goalkeeper has emerged as one of the best hands in the Serie A.
Onana is rated the best goalkeeper in the top flight of the Italian Serie A this term, having saved 76.1% of the shots he has faced in the league and also produced some emphatic performances in Europe.
He has kept 19 clean sheets in 38 appearances across all competitions so far this season, making 45 saves.
But Pagluica believes that AC Milan Maignan is a better shot-stopper as Chelsea and other top Europeans jostle for the former Ajax keeper’s signature.
“They are both very strong,” Pagliuca told Rai Radio 1.
“I still lean towards Maignan’s side, he has more experience but I have to say that Onana is having a very important season in his first year in Serie A.
“I thought [Samir] Handanovic would hold the place more, but then after a couple of matches like this [Simone] Inzaghi decided to focus on Onana and he did very well.
“But Maignan is currently one of the three strongest goalkeepers in the world.”
