Some Rivers State guber candidates protest alleged intimidation by PDP, Wike

by James Davies

A number of governorship candidates in Rivers State on Friday took to the street to protest what they termed intimidation from the outgoing governor of the state, Nyesom Wike.

Some of the protesters, including Senator Magnus Abe of the Social Democratic Party; Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress, Dumo Lulu-Briggs of the Accord and Tonte Ibraye of the African Democratic Congress took their grievances to the State Police Headquarters.

Recall that Senator Magnus Abe has had cause to complain that his campaign train had been severally disrupted by persons suspected to be loyal to the state government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike who is serving out his second term as governor is believed to wield a high influence in the state and on his supporters.
